Whew! I’ve Registered! Now What? (2023 edition)

What’s the Board doing?

Immediately after the last early registration date, and after some summer vacation time, as many of us have families just like you, the Millbrae AYSO Regional Board begins the process of putting the teams together for the upcoming season. When this is completed, the uniforms will be ordered and the coaches will be notified.  It may not necessarily be in that order.

When do the coaches get their teams?

Coaches should expect to receive their team rosters at their division's Coaches’ meeting, which will be sometime in early to mid August.

When do the players get called?

Teams may begin practice on or after the second week of August, when we have field rights and insurance (16U/19U will start a week earlier).  Coaches will call the players after the Coaches’ meeting where they receive their roster. They will give you all the information you will need in regards to practice times and location. Each coach sets his/her own practice days, time and location. The practice fields are located in Millbrae.

It’s after the second week of August, and my child has not been called. What do I do?

Please don't panic if you see teams practicing and your child has not been called.  Not all teams begin practice at the same time. Neither 5U Schoolyard Jamboree nor 6U teams have practices during the week before the season starts.  Also, some coaches may be still on vacation, which is what many people do to prepare for the upcoming season.

If your child has not been called by the third week of August (for 8Us and under), you may email [email protected].

What else does my child need?

The registration fee includes: complete uniform (jersey, shorts, socks), supplemental accident insurance, team and individual pictures.  In addition, you need to have soccer shoes (baseball or football shows have spikes and aren't permitted), shin guards, a soccer ball (size depends on age) and a water bottle.

How often are practices and games?

For 5U Schoolyard Jamboree and 6Us, both practices and games are held together on Saturdays for one hour, in a time slot starting from 9am to 2pm.

For 8Us, practices are one time a week, field and times to be determined by your child’s coach.

For 10Us and up, guidance is practice twice weekly, again determined by your child's coach.

Games will be on Saturdays with the first game on September 9th, 2023. Under 5 thru 10 games will be at Taylor Field, Millbrae.  Game fields for the older divisions (12U-19U) will be at locations anywhere between Daly City and Redwood City, as determined by the Area League schedule.

Late Regular registration?

Our regular registration period begins after our last registration in May.  Most of our older divisions fill up by early registration, so any player we don't have space for (or not enough coaches) will be placed on a waitlist.

If space develops, they will be given 72 hours to accept the spot, and submit payment.

Those interested may email:   [email protected]

Please Remember…

AYSO is a parent-based volunteer organization established to provide a positive experience for our children. Go to the games. Learn the rules. Above all, be tolerant of the children’s coaches and referees' mistakes and weaknesses.
