REGISTRATION FAQS

What do I have to bring to Registration?

If you are a NEW player, you must bring a Birth Certificate or Passport as identification/proof of age. If you are a returning player, returning to 6U thru 10U, you do not have to bring anything extra to Registration. If you are 12U thru 19U, you need to bring a CURRENT PHOTO (1 x 1.5 inches) of your child. These teams travel to other cities in the AREA and are required to have Player ID cards. This regulation is strictly enforced and is required under AYSO National Guidelines.

Note that with our new Blue Sombrero registration system, you will be able to upload photos online.

Can I register my child online?

For 2015 onwards, this has been an AYSO requirement!  You will need to pre-register your child on the Internet through Blue Sombrero.   You must print one (1) copy of the registration form, signed, and bring this (in person) to one of the registration sessions to pay the registration fee.
This is needed so that coaches have medical releases for our soccer accident insurance (SAI).

If I need help outside of the registration dates, who can I call?

For 3/6 to 8/27, the Support Center will now be open Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm PT, Saturdays from 6:00am to 3:00pm PT.  They are closed on Sundays.  To reach the Support Center, call 1-866-588-2976 or email eaysosupport@ayso.org.

How do I qualify for the Early Registration Fees?

Register your child(ren) during the early registration period (by the end of May) in person, and receive a $25 per child discount off of the Regular Registration Fee.

What if my child has a birthday between Jan 1 and the beginning of the season, or wants to 'play up' to be with his/her friends at the same grade level?

NOTE:  AYSO is following US Soccer in moving from school year to birth year-based registration.

Players will initially be assigned to a division based on their age as of the 2018 season.  Requests to 'play up' should be made on the registration form and will be considered based on available space in the higher division, as well as other circumstances.  "Other" requests should be forwarded to the Regional Commissioner for review and consideration.

Can my child 'play down' in a division below their age group?

No.  The National Rules and Regulations do not allow a player to 'play down' a division in AYSO.

What can I do to ensure that my child has a positive experience in youth soccer?

Become involved in the program. AYSO, in Millbrae and everywhere else, is a 100% VOLUNTEER organization. Without Volunteers, we don't have a program. We need POSITIVE coaches, referees, team managers / parents, folks to line the fields and maintain (paint) those lines, week in and week out, folks to run the snack bar, (after other folks shop to stock the snack bar) fundraising, photo day, etc. etc. etc.   GET INVOLVED....BE A VOLUNTEER.

Do I have to volunteer?

There will be a volunteer information table at the registration sessions, and you will also have a chance to register as a volunteer online.   We will ask each family to volunteer in some way so think about what you would like to do to help this season.  The more volunteers we have, the less each person has to do to help the program succeed.

What if I miss the early registration dates?

NOTE:  Fees will increase by $25 for each child to the regular rate, assuming availability.

If paying by check, please include the signed players forms, payment, and address to:

Millbrae AYSO
PO Box 1461
Millbrae CA  94030

DELIVERY MAY TAKE UP TO A WEEK TO ARRIVE, AS OUR POST OFFICE DOES NOT SORT MAIL LOCALLY.

IF YOU ARE REGISTERING A NEW PLAYER, you will need to include a copy of the player’s passport or birth certificate to verify date of birth.
This can be done electronically through Blue Sombrero, or copies of these forms can be mailed to the addresses listed above.

We will notify you as soon as possible if there is room in the division your are requesting.

When does the season start?

Opening Night is Friday, September 8th, with Opening Day following on Saturday, September 9th.
16-19U will start games in mid-late August.

Games will be on
Saturdays during the regular season.

Where do teams play and practice?

Please see our FIELDS page.

Under 6s (6U) will not normally practice during the week.
Under 8s (8U) will have one practice a week at one of the elementary school locations.
Under 10/12s (10U/12U) can have either one/two practices a week, also at the elementary schools.
Under 14/16/19s (14U/16U/19U) will practice at Taylor Field.

For games, Under 10s and younger will play at Taylor Field (depending on the number of teams, U10s may also use Spring Valley Elementary)
If your child participate in other Saturday activities, there will likely be conflicts at some point in the season, so it is incumbent on parents to review the schedule that comes out (typically in late August/early September) and work with your coaches to properly set expectations around your child's participation.

Under 12s / 14s will play in AYSO Area 2B, which comprises Brisbane, Daly City, Pacifica, San Bruno and Millbrae.

Under 16s / 19s will participate in a combined Area 2B/2N league which comprises the above cities and the locations in Area 2N, which encompasses Burlingame to Redwood City, and also includes Half Moon Bay.
